Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to all pages and elements of this website; www.reflectingdisability.co.uk

Reflecting Disability is committed to making our website accessible to as many users as possible.  This website has been designed to be compliant to level AA of the World Wide Web Consortium W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0. These guidelines aim to make web content more accessible for disabled people. We will continue to develop the website in line with the needs of our users to ensure we can share our work in a way that is clear, straightforward and user friendly.

As the website grows we commit to ensuring content is compliant with the WCAG Guidelines.

Web browser accessibility tools

Most web browsers have accessibility tools which will assist users to interact with this website.

For example, that means that via your web browser you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings

  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen

  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software and see elements in focus highlighted

  • skip to the main content when using a screen reader

  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

  • Use an immersive reader/reading mode or similar to further simplify the website text for reading.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you are disabled.

How accessible is this website?

Although we have tried to make this website as accessible as possible, there are some elements that are currently not WCAG AA compliant.

We are working to resolve these issues as soon as possible:

  • Currently, hyperlinked text is fixed in blue. This is due to a CSS issue and will be resolved as a priority. This means that some links will not have visible indication of their focus state. However all hyperlinks will respond to keyboard navigation, and some screen readers will register a link that has been previously visited.

  • Line height and spacing of text cannot be modified.

Third party content

We cannot guarantee the accessibility of:

  • External hosted videos (for e.g Youtube, Vimeo)

  • Links that take you to external websites.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed above.
